Health conscious individuals around the world use lemon water detox diets as a natural way to relieve digestive problems, cleanse the liver and kidneys, relieve flu symptoms and introduce antiseptics to the body. Cleanses can be partial or total and last between 10 and 40 days. Partial versions incorporate a daily lemon drink to assist the body's cleansing mechanisms without depriving the body of other nutrients. Total cleanses eliminate food from the diet entirely, only allowing the consumption of a lemon concoctionm resulting in an aggressive approach to body purification. Add this to my Recipe Box.
Partial Cleanse
Mix 2 tablespoons of fresh squeezed lemon juice into 10 to 14 ounces of water and drink three times a day, once per meal while maintaining your regular diet patterns. This approach is primarily used to aid digestion while gradually cleansing the liver and kidneys of residual toxins.
Total Cleanse
Mix 2 tablespoons of lemon juice with 10 to 14 ounces of water, 1/10 tablespoon cayenne pepper and 2 tablespoons of grade B maple syrup. This liquid concoction is to be the only element of your diet, along with 12 8-ounce glasses of pure water each day. The lemon water should be ingested ever two hours and will serve to quickly cleanse the liver and kidneys, while killing much of the bad bacteria that resides in your digestive tract. It's important to only use grade B maple syrup, since grade A processing removes much of the syrup's nutritional value.
Salt Water Flush Lemon Diet
To accelerate the cleansing process specifically within the digestive tract, add a saltwater drink to your lemon diet regimen each morning. Pour two level teaspoons of uniodized sea salt to a quart of lukewarm water. This oral saltwater enema will scrape the walls of the large and small intestines and colon, removing plaque build up that may inhibit nutrient uptake and house parasites. Be prepared to eliminate multiple times per day as the combo diet cleanses your entire system rapidly.
Considerations
It's important to always consult a healthcare professional before embarking on an aggressive diet such as the lemon cleanse. If you are cleared to perform the cleanse, a minimum of 10 days, with no more than 40 days, should be completed. As you finish the diet, ease back into solid foods with soft vegetables, soups and orange juice, waiting until day five to begin digesting meats and grains.
