Water detoxification cleansing diets used to be the most popular liquid diet, but juice diets are rapidly taking over. Juice diets are much more safe, since they continue to give your body nutrients while dieting, and since they are in liquid form, these nutrients can be more readily absorbed. Consult a doctor or nutritionist to find out which juicing diet is best for you. Add this to my Recipe Box.
What is Juice Fasting?
Juice fasting is a liquid diet consisting of only juice and water. Go on a juice fast if you are trying to detoxify your organs, such as the blood and lymph system. Juice diets can also be used to clean the colon, kidneys, bladder, lungs, sinuses, and skin. Before you start a juice diet, buy a good juicer so you can make your juices easily at home, which keeps you motivated to stay on the diet.
Types of Juices
There are six main types of juices. Acid juices come from fruits like pineapple and grapefruit; vegetable juices, from tomato and cucumber; leafy green vegetable juices from lettuce and watercress; juices from root vegetables such as beetroot and carrot; juices from sweet fruits like prune and grape; and juices from sub-acidic fruits, like plum and pear. Since fruit juices stimulate the removal of acids and toxins and vegetable juices carry toxins away in a milder way, it is best to use these juices separately.
Benefits of Juice Diets
Ingesting your nutrients in juice form makes them more easily digested, allowing virtually all of their beneficial ingredients to be absorbed directly into the bloodstream. Raw juices are rich in alkaline elements, vitamins, certain natural medicines, vegetal hormones, antibiotics, and easily assimilable organic minerals, all of which can work together to free your body of toxins and give it the health benefits it needs for a better lifestyle.
Weight Loss with Juice Diets
While juicing is a great base or addition to any diet, it does not melt pounds away on its own. The benefits of juicing must be combined with exercise to rev up the metabolism and make those extra pounds disappear. However, juice diets cause the stomach to naturally shrink to its original size (about the size of a fist) within three days of starting the diet. This causes you to feel fuller much faster, while still getting the nutrients you need from the juice, and promotes weight loss.
