Lemon juice can be a useful household tool for several of your dog's needs. It is best to use the lemon juice that is sold in the lemon-shaped plastic bottles in the produce section of your local grocery store. These are easier to use and have a more concentrated lemon taste than fresh lemon juice. Bark Deterrent

There are a lot of reasons why dogs bark, and some level of barking is acceptable. Some dogs suffer from an ailment known as Chromodacryorrhea. This is a stain that forms around the eyes, feet and mouth of some dogs. The coloring is typically a reddish-brown and can be unsightly and expensive to remove with surgical procedures. A mixture of equal parts lemon juice and baking soda can be an affordable and natural solution to the stains on your dog's coat. Mix it into a paste and rub it onto your dog's coat in the problem areas. Let it sit for up to ten minutes before rinsing thoroughly from your dog's fur. Do not get into dog's eyes.

Defense Against Symptoms of Overheating

In the hot summer months, dogs can become victim to overheating which can be potentially fatal. They should never be left in hot cars or alone outside during the hottest hours of the day. Should your dog become overheated, his breathing may become irregular and strained. Avoid giving him an excessive amount of water, as this may cause him to vomit and further dehydrate him. Instead, squirt a shot of lemon juice into the back of his throat. He won't like the taste, but it will clear his airway. Pour cold water onto his face and body to help him cool down. If he still shows signs of overheating, take him to see a veterinarian immediately.
