Warts are skin cells that grow too fast. The growths can appear on your hands, fingers and feet (plantar warts) as well as on your genitals and rectal area. Warts are caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV). There is no cure for warts, but you can treat them with home remedies, over-the-counter products and by changing your diet. Foods high in acid can help heal the warts you have and prevent new warts from developing.
Beta-Carotene
Consuming foods rich in beta-carotene, a nutrient that contains antioxidant properties, will help heal your wart infection. Try to consume some of the following fruits and vegetables daily: carrots, apples, bananas, apricots, mangoes, cantaloupes and peaches. Other foods rich in beta-carotene include blackberries, blueberries, grapes, cherries, watermelon, turnips and dandelion greens.
Folic Acid
Foods rich in folic acid, a vitamin essential for cell growth and reproduction, will also help heal your warts. Include the following foods in your daily diet: egg yolks, lentils, liver, bananas, oranges, peaches, dried beans, split peas, potatoes, wholegrain breads, wheat flour and spinach. Other foods rich in folic acid include beetroot, chicken giblets, soy products, broccoli, cabbage, asparagus, nuts and asparagus.
Tips
Whenever possible, eat the fruits and vegetables rich in beta-carotene and folic acid raw. Cooking the fruits and vegetables will destroy the nutrients. If you can't eat the fruits and vegetables raw, drink the cooking liquid or use it as a sauce over the vegetables; do not throw it away.
Do not consume alcohol while eating foods rich in folic acid---alcohol leads to a folic acid deficiency.
