How to Reduce Acidity Naturally

How to Reduce Acidity Naturally

Acidity in the stomach can be caused by a number of things: foods, gastro esophageal reflux disease or lifestyle choices. While over-the-counter medications can help lower acidity, there are natural options that can help without the harmful side effects that many chemical medications carry.

Instructions

    1

Mix 2 tsp. of raw apple cider vinegar with one cup of water and drink the mixture three times a day or before eating foods you know will cause heartburn or acid reflux for you. Use raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar, which can be found at health food stores.

    2

Abstain from smoking and drinking alcohol. Both distress your stomach and cause it to produce higher levels of acid. If you can't refrain, try limiting yourself to having drinks two nights a week and three cigarettes a day.

    3

Abstain from consuming greasy, fatty foods. These foods are difficult for the stomach to process and lead to over production of stomach acid. If you eat these kinds of foods, do so only twice a week and drink apple cider vinegar with water prior to eating.

    4

Write down the foods you eat on a daily basis. After eating, take note of any symptoms of high acidity, such as indigestion, a sour feeling in your stomach, acid reflux or heart burn. Try to cut out foods that cause these symptoms or drink your apple cider vinegar and water before eating them.
