3 Day Cleanse Diets

Three-day cleanse diets are a great way to jump-start a longer diet with rapid weight and waste loss. The average person can expect to lose up to 10 pounds during this diet. A cleanse diet may also eliminate cravings for sugary foods and foods high in unhealthy fats. Cleanse diets are safe for otherwise healthy adults, but you should still consult with your doctor before beginning any weight loss program.

The Basics of a 3-Day Cleanse

Plan your cleanse diet in advance. Choose a time when you will not be under a great deal of stress or have a need for increased physical exertion. When possible, a three-day weekend is the best choice.

Plan for light to moderate exercise during a cleanse diet. Relaxed walks or light swimming are perfect.

Drink plenty of water. Water is a key element in a cleanse diet; even more so than in your daily life. You will need the additional water to flush toxins and waste from your system. Aim for a daily goal of 10 to 12 glasses of water.

Take a vitamin daily. A good multivitamin will help ensure that you get all your necessary vitamins and minerals.

The Juice Cleanse

For a juice cleanse, stock up on fruit juices with no added sugar. If you have a juicer you can make your own juice. Drink up to 8 glasses a day of the juices of your choice.

The most recommended juices for a cleanse diet are cranberry and grapefruit juices. Often these 100 percent natural juices are sweetened with apple juice. This is fine for a three-day cleanse. Of course you may substitute whatever juices you prefer, provided they are 100 percent juice.

The Raw Food Cleanse

During a raw food cleanse diet you eat nothing but raw fruits and vegetables. All raw food diets consider any food to be raw if it has not been cooked to over 115 degrees. This eliminates all canned goods, junk foods and meats.

For a three-day cleanse diet of raw foods, expect to eat more frequently than normal. Fresh fruits and vegetables are digested quicker than meat and most cooked foods. You may eat as often as you like and as much as you like. For the optimum benefits of this cleanse, aim for a colorful assortment of fruits and vegetables.

The Bullion Cleanse

On this cleanse diet you drink 1 cup of beef or chicken bullion per meal. You will start the day with a glass of water that has 1 tbsp. of lemon juice mixed into it. An hour after you drink your glass of water you will have your first meal of bullion. The easiest preparation for the bullion is to buy small bullion cubes at the grocery store. Place 1 cube of bullion into a cup of water and heat until the cube has dissolved.
