How to Use Inflatable Sleeping Wedges

If you suffer from gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) or any other form of acid reflux, you suffer every night you sleep. Lying flat on your back causes the acid to roll up into your esophagus, causing heartburn that won't go away. You might also suffer from insomnia because lying down to sleep is a painful experience. Fortunately, an inflatable sleep wedge will help reduce the amount of acid that flows up your esophagus, giving you a better night's sleep.

Instructions

    1

Purchase your sleeping wedge online or in a store (see Resources below). The benefit of an inflatable sleeping wedge is that it is inflated to your comfort level and can easily be deflated to bring with you when traveling.

    2

Inflate your sleeping wedge with the enclosed pump. It will most likely be a hand pump; the entire process of inflating will take less than 3 minutes.

    3

Put the enclosed cotton slip on the sleeping wedge and place the wedge at the head of your bed. Most sleeping wedges are designed to be used by only one person.

    4

Place your pillow directly on top of your sleeping wedge.

    5

Lie down on your back, your head on top of your pillow and your back reclining on the wedge. If the wedge seems overinflated, gently let some air out of it until it is comfortable.
