How to Make Drinks That Slim You Down

How to Make Drinks That Slim You Down

Drinking lots of water helps flush out your system and will help you lose weight. According to a study authored by Brenda Davy, Ph.D., who is an associate professor of nutrition at Virginia Tech, people that drank 16 oz. of water before meals lost more weight and ate less than those who didn't. So, a key component to making drinks that slim you down is using water creatively and adding ingredients that will further encourage weight loss. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

    1

Flavor the water you drink with tasty additions that will make you want to drink more. Putting chopped ginger and lemon in your water will make it more delicious hot or cold; and ginger is said to speed up the metabolism, according to the Safe Slimming website. Add cucumbers, mint and lime and let soak in water overnight for a thirst-quenching beverage. If you are craving something sweet, drop a few chunks of watermelon into a cold glass of water to satisfy your craving.

    2

Drink carbonation to make yourself feel full and stave off eating. For a mocktail with a citrus twist, combine club soda, lime, and a big squeeze of metabolism-boosting grapefruit. Dress up club soda with any low-calorie fruit you want. Add lemon and mint, tangerine and limes, and even grate some ginger in to help with your digestion. If you are drinking alcohol, you can add vodka to club soda for a low-calorie cocktail.

    3

Make green sun tea and get the benefits of antioxidants, take advantage of the mood-enhancing properties of green tea and boost your metabolism all at once. Fill a glass jar with eight cups of water and eight tea bags. Use one tea bag per cup of water. Slice up a lemon and put it in the jar. Place plastic wrap over the top. Put the jar in a sunny window or outdoors and let it steep for at least an hour. Pour over ice and garnish with lemon and mint.
