Too much salt (sodium) in a diet could lead to heart problems and decrease your overall health. Doctors who suspect that their patients eat too much salt can recommend they adopt a diet with either no sodium of very low amounts of sodium. While it can be easier to find low-sodium foods than it might be to find foods with no salt at all, there are dozens of things a person can eat without eating any salt.
Breakfast
Those who want to eat a breakfast with no salt can choose from several different types of food. Some of these foods include cream of wheat (as long as it is not instant), old-fashioned, non-instant oatmeal, puffed rice, puffed wheat and shredded wheat. Check the box of the shredded wheat for nutritional information before eating. Most brands of shredded wheat have no salt, but some brands do have a little.
Fruits
There are dozens of types of fruits that you can eat if you want to eat snacks that have no salt in them. Some of the easily accessible kinds of fruits a person trying to avoid salt can eat include grapes, mangoes, oranges, peaches, raspberries, strawberries and plums. Other fruit products you can eat include dates, cherries, limes and fruit leather.
Vegetables
There also are several vegetables that you can eat if you are hoping to limit your salt intake. Some of the vegetables that have no salt in them include sweet corn, avocados, lettuce, onions, peppers, tomatoes, squash and asparagus. If you want to make a salad with the lettuce, you can put some homemade oil and vinegar salad dressing on top without eating any salt.
Other
There are several other kinds of foods that do not necessarily fit into any of the other categories already listed, but still do not include any salt. Some of these other foods include most kinds of popsicles, brown and white rice and jams and preserves made from fruit. There are also a variety of nuts that you can eat as long as you buy them without being presalted. Some of these nuts are almonds, hazelnuts and Brazil nuts.
