Mayonnaise is a common food product that is enjoyed by many people. There are some who are concerned with the nutritional values of mayonnaise, particularly the amount of fat and cholesterol.

    There are a number of options when selecting mayonnaise. These include regular mayonnaise, light, fat-free, low-calorie and low-sodium.

Cholesterol

    According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), most of the types of mayonnaise mentioned above are either cholesterol-free, or have a low cholesterol value.

Regular mayonnaise

    According to the USDA, regular mayonnaise has the highest cholesterol value. It contains 3 mg of cholesterol in one tablespoon, which is 1% of the daily recommended allowance.

Daily Consumption

    According to the American Heart Association, you should limit your cholesterol consumption to less than 300 mg per day.

Cholesterol blood levels

    According to the American Heart Association, a blood cholesterol level of 200 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dl) is optimal. If your blood cholesterol level is above 240 mg/dl, then you have an increased risk of developing coronary disease.
