Natural Remedies to Lose Weight Fast

Diets, by themselves, generally don't work over the long run. Taking off the weight and, just as important, keeping it off, requires a lifestyle change. A temporary reprieve from bad eating habits and sedentary lifestyle is not enough. That being said, there are a number of quick weight loss remedies that you can use to get the ball rolling and get a morale boost that comes from seeing results.

Weight Loss Through Detox

One of the biggest hurdles in losing weight is that the bad foods we consume tend to make us crave more bad foods. These cravings don't necessarily coincide with when we actually need to eat, creating situations where we are eating only to satiate the craving. A detox helps to break your body of these counterproductive cravings while cleaning out the system and helping you quickly lose weight. Please note, however, that it is extremely important to consult your doctor before beginning any detox or diet remedy.

A popular detox diet remedy is the maple syrup "Master Cleanser" diet. This involves consuming a mixture of maple syrup, lemon juice, cayenne pepper and purified water several times per day. The theory behind the diet is to cleanse the digestive system and flush the built-up toxins from the kidneys. This diet also boasts claims of rapid weight loss.

The basics of the diet are as follows; Mix together half a lemon's worth of juice with two tablespoons of grade B maple syrup. Add in a tenth of a teaspoon of cayenne pepper and finish off the mixture with eight to twelve ounces of purified water. Sip the mixture over the span of an hour and repeat three to four times per day. It is important to use grade B maple syrup because it contains a number of essential vitamins and minerals including Vitamins A, B1, B6 and C and minerals potassium, calcium and magnesium.

The Low GI Diet

Low glycemic index diets, also commonly referred to as low GI diets, became the fad of the moment with the success of Dr. Arthur Agatston's "South Beach Diet." Although the low GI diet is for all intents and purposes a lifestyle change, the first two weeks of the diet are designed to help the participant achieve rapid weight loss. The initial loss is claimed to be in the range of 5 to 15 pounds.

The basics of the first two weeks are simple. You can eat low-fat, high-protein foods. The carbohydrates you eat should come from vegetables that are low on the glycemic index. Examples are cauliflower, broccoli and zucchini. It is important it eat three meals a day. Tthe most important is breakfast. Take healthy snacks between meals. This will keep your metabolism revved up and your hunger at bay. The removal of sugars, bleached flour products, and other high GI foods from the diet causes the body to break its craving for unhealthy things. In the process the dieter loses a significant amount of weight in a short period.
