Lean Cranberry & Grapefruit Diet

Incorporating cranberries and grapefruit with low calorie meals accelerates the weight loss process. The lean cranberry and grapefruit diet has gained popularity among "fad" diets for that reason. Supporting the cleansing of toxins from the body, cranberries are an extremely helpful detox diet food. Grapefruit share similar characteristics of the cranberry but ultimately promote weight loss differently. Combining lean cranberry and grapefruit with a healthy diet will deliver efficient weight loss results.

Eating

The belief that a lean cranberry and grapefruit diet should be taken as a "fast" is not entirely true. Any fast can rid the body of excess weight and toxins quickly. However, there is no legitimate evidence that states you must fast with the lean cranberry and grapefruit diet to achieve weight loss results. This diet can promote weight loss when taken faithfully with a low-carb, low-calorie meal.

Cranberry

According to WebMD, cranberries possess more antioxidants than any other fruit or vegetable other than blueberries. The total capacity of antioxidants found in cranberries is 8,983 compared with 9,019 in cultivated blueberries. High levels of antioxidants in cranberries, in addition to other detoxifying properties, cleanse the lymphatic system. Proper cleansing of the lymphatic system assists in eliminating stubborn fat. This fact is why drinking 100 percent pure unsweetened cranberry juice with low carb meals will deliver rapid results. Fresh, frozen and dehydrated cranberries are recommended as well.

Grapefruit

Grapefruit is not considered a high antioxidant fruit. However, they do contain antioxidant properties. As far as weight loss is concerned, grapefruit is recommended for reasons other than antioxidant levels. Grapefruit assist the body's fat-burning process by preventing the body from storing carbohydrate, sugar and fat. Consuming grapefruit and grapefruit juice (natural) with healthy meals block enzymes that store carbs and fat.

Water

Water is a key component to weight loss success. It's recommended that the average person drink eight 8 oz. glasses a day. Other than the obvious reasons for drinking water, water helps the body burn calories by 3 percent. A well-hydrated body will boost metabolic rate and make you feel more energized. Prevent yourself from becoming thirsty so that the body does not confuse thirst with hunger. If this happens, you might find yourself craving foods high in carbs and calories. When on the lean cranberry and grapefruit diet, water is needed to assist the body in cleansing toxins.

Fasting

If choosing to fast with the lean cranberry and grapefruit diet, you should not exceed three days. Although it has been known for individuals to rapidly lose weight, fasting for long lengths of time is harmful to the body and long-term metabolic process. However, fasting for a few days is beneficial to the digestive system and detoxification process of the body. Those who suffer from specific health conditions are advised not to fast.
