How to Cure a UTI With Cranberry Juice

How to Cure a UTI With Cranberry Juice

Native Americans used cranberries to care for wounds, relieve diarrhea, prevent scurvy and treat urinary disorders. More recently, cranberries have been found to prevent and treat urinary tract infections. UTIs are infections in the urinary tract that affect the kidneys, the bladder and/or the urethra. Research presented at the Annual Meeting of the Infectious Diseases Society of America in 2004 suggested that proanthocyanidins found in cranberry juice combat the bacteria that cause most UTIs.

How to Cure a UTI with Cranberry Juice

    1

For the prevention and treatment of UTIs, select a juice that contains at least 27 percent cranberry juice.

    2

Drink one to three 8 oz. glasses of cranberry juice per day.

    3

Allow the proanthocyanidins in the cranberry juice to interact with the bacteria by consuming the juice on a regular basis. This will prevent the bacteria from sticking to the walls of the bladder.

    4

Drink cranberry juice as part of a long-term commitment to a healthy diet to prevent future infection.

    5

Drink at least eight 8 oz. glasses of water per day. Water will flush out toxins while supplying nutrients to cells and providing a moist environment for tissues.
