Rapid Weight Loss Techniques

Losing weight can be a difficult task, and most people who decide to lose weight want to lose it as fast as possible, particularly for an upcoming wedding or other special event. There are different types of weight-loss programs, including some that promise to shed pounds rapidly. These techniques aim to reduce unwanted fat and pounds at a faster rate than a typical diet, which can take weeks or months.

Diet

    Diet is a very important key to weight loss, especially rapid weight loss. What you eat plays a crucial role in losing pounds and inches. Giving up high-carbohydrate foods, refined sugars and high-fat foods is essential in any weight-loss regimen, but is essential if you want to lose weight quickly.

    Instead of eating three meals a day, eat six smaller meals. Eating smaller portions and eating more frequently keeps your metabolism revved up so that you burn more calories. Drink at least eight glasses of water daily, which helps flush toxins out of your body and keeps you hydrated. Water is also a good appetite suppressant; when you feel hungry, first down a large glass of water to help curb your appetite.

Exercise

    Aerobic exercises are the best workouts for burning calories fast. Running, jogging, brisk walks, swimming, dancing, jumping rope and aerobics classes are all good for increasing your heart rate and burning fat. Weightlifting uses up a lot of calories as well, and many people like to incorporate some weight training to burn extra calories and tone their muscles.

    The more active you are, the more calories you will burn. Consider keeping a pedometer on your hip to monitor how many steps you take each day. As you build your endurance, you can incorporate several types of exercise into your routine and increase your workout time. Interval training can also burn calories at a faster rate than maintaining a regular pace. At a minimum, aim for at least 30 minutes of aerobic exercise---the kind that gets your heart pumping---every day.

Fat-Burning Supplements

    There are a plethora of supplements on the market that claim to aid in quick weight loss. One fairly new product that has gotten positive reviews in 2009 is Avesil, which contains chromium, "super citrimax" and green-tea extract. The manufacturers assert that Avesil works through thermogenesis and aids the body in burning food as energy instead of storing it as fat. SlimQuick is another product that claims to help with quick weight loss. It claims to reduce fluid retention, relieve stress and boost your metabolism and energy. Always consult with your physician before embarking on any supplement plan to make sure it is safe, especially if you are taking any medications.
