Healthy Diet Shakes at Home

Healthy diet shakes can provide nutritious meals or snacks for the health-conscious individual. These types of shakes are very simple to make at home. In order to keep the shakes healthy, choose ingredients that are low in sugar and fat, and high in vitamins, fiber and protein. Ingredients such as fruit, yogurt and skim milk make excellent additions to a healthy diet shake. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Banana Strawberry Smoothie

    Gather the following ingredients: one medium-sized banana, four large strawberries, 1 cup of skim milk, 1 cup of vanilla low-fat yogurt and four to five ice cubes. Place the ingredients in a blender and mix at high speed until the ice is completely crushed. This drink is a good source of calcium, potassium and vitamin C.

Berry Shake

    Combine in a blender 1/4 cup of blueberries, 1/4 cup of strawberries, 1/4 cup of raspberries, 1/2 cup of cranberry juice, 1/2 cup of apple juice, 1/2 cup of ice and 1 cup of berry-flavored yogurt. Blend well on medium speed. This healthy diet shake is rich in vitamins and antioxidants.

Banana Mocha Protein Shake

    This drink can help build muscle and provide you with extra energy. Mix together one scoop of chocolate protein powder (sold in vitamin and health food stores), 1 tsp. of instant coffee, half of a banana, 1 tsp. of artificial sweetener, 1 cup of vanilla yogurt and about five cubes of ice. Blend on high until the ice is crushed.
