A diuretic works to remove fluids from the body through urination. While this term usually is used to describe a chemical substance, many diuretics occur in nature. Some natural foods with diuretic properties are cranberries, apple cider vinegar, dandelion root and green tea. Vegetables and fruits that have a high water content---including cucumbers, melons, fennel, asparagus and celery---also can be consumed as a natural way to release body fluids. Add this to my Recipe Box.
What You'll Need
This recipe will yield enough liquid to last you one day. Gather 60 oz. distilled water, 1 tbsp. cranberry juice, a dandelion root tea bag and 2 tbsp. lemon juice. Use 100 percent cranberry juice that is not made from concentrate.
How to Make It
In a large container with a lid, combine the water, cranberry juice and lemon juice. Add the tea bag, and allow it to steep overnight. Remove bag, and consume the drink over the course of one day. For a thorough flush of your system, drink this mixture every day for five to seven days.
