Types of Fruit Juices for Fasting

Juice fasting has the potential to help you shed unwanted weight, repair damage on the cellular level and detoxify your body. However, the decision to fast should not be made lightly. There are many health risks involved and you should always speak with your family doctor before beginning any kind of juice fast. You should include various types of juice in order to ensure your body receives the nutrients it needs and craves when you're fasting.

Melon

The juice from watermelon, cantaloupe and honeydew is almost clear, incredibly succulent and packed with every major vitamin and five minerals. One of these minerals, potassium, can be found in higher amounts in cantaloupe than in a banana. Since this juice has very low acidity it can be enjoyed first thing in the morning.

Pineapple

Pineapple juice has anti-inflammatory properties. In addition, the taste blends well with other fruit juices. Since pineapple juice is very acidic you may want to avoid drinking it in the morning.

Apple

Fresh apple juice has a detoxifying effect on the body. It can reduce toxins, eliminate bad breath and improve skin health.

Banana

The juice from a banana helps ease constipation. Constipation is a common complaint during the beginning of a fast since the body is trying to clear out the bulk of toxins via the colon. In addition, bananas are packed with vital nutrients, including vitamins A,C,D,E and K, along with a full complement of B vitamins. In addition, bananas contain five minerals, including potassium, which keeps the heart beating and functioning at optimal levels.

Papaya

The juice from a papaya helps to boost metabolism. When combined with other juices, it lends its metabolism-boosting effects to them. In addition, the papaya has a clear, clean, sweet taste that combines well with nearly any other fruit juice.

Citrus

The juices from grapefruits and oranges provide massive doses of vitamin C which can help boost the immune system and ward off the common cold. Citrus juices are highly acidic, though.
