When trying to lose weight, it is good to know which foods can help assist your weight loss. Certain foods help to burn fat while others can improve your energy level. There is no need to purchase expensive and unhealthy weight loss supplements to try to achieve your weight loss goal. With the correct knowledge, you can eat regular meals and still improve weight loss.
Omega-3 Fatty Acids
To improve weight loss, you need to exercise and expend energy so the body can burn calories. This energy can be gained through eating omega-3 fatty acids. Foods like walnuts, fish and oils such as canola, olive, soybean and flaxseed contain high levels of omega-3 fatty acids. When the body does not have enough of these fatty acids, you can feel fatigued, suffer from dry skin, depression, mood swings and a reduction in memory. According to a study published in the "Journal of Neuro Endocrinology Letters" in 2005, people that are afflicted with chronic fatigue benefit from the consumption of more omega-3 fatty acids.
Eggs
Eating more eggs can help weight loss. The entire egg is good for weight loss, not just the egg white. Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge conducted an experiment that found women on a low calorie diet who consumed one egg with toast and jelly each morning lost twice as much weight as those women that only ate a bagel for breakfast with the exact same amount of calories. The only difference was the women who ate the bagel did not eat any eggs. David Grotto, R.D., author of "101 Foods That Could Save Your Life," says, "Egg protein is filling, so you eat less later in the day."
Green Tea
According to The University of Maryland Medical Center, studies show green tea may boost metabolism and increase fat burning. One study confirmed that the combination of green tea and certain levels of caffeine improve weight loss. Even though green tea is not an actual food, it is one of the most beneficial items that can be consumed to assist your weight loss. When you drink too much coffee or other caffeine filled beverages, you can have an increase in food cravings. Green tea is a healthy drink that does contain a very low level of caffeine. However, it is also filled with some other very beneficial ingredients. One of these ingredients is catechins. The leading catechin found in green tea is called epigallocatechin gallate. This is a powerful antioxidant that will help lower your cholesterol levels and increase the body's ability to burn fat.
Oatmeal
Oatmeal is full of water soluble fibers. This is a key ingredient to making you feel fuller over an extended time period. It breaks down at a slow pace once it enters the stomach. This provides the body with an increase in energy production which helps you burn calories by being more active. Eating a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast will help kick start your metabolism and increase your energy output throughout the day.
