Types of Juice Diets

Different types of juice diets serve different purposes. Some juice diets are meant to help people lose weight, and some are for cleaning the liver and gallbladder. In addition, some people are advised to go on a liquid or juice diet right after surgery, when digestion is slow. Juice diets are sometimes called juice fasts. Some juice fasts involve drinking only juice for a period of time, while other juice diets simply supplement the diet with additional nourishing juices.

Vegetable Juice Diet For Weight Loss

Buy as many different types of vegetables as you can find. Great vegetables for juicing are carrots, cucumbers, kale, celery and wheat grass. Drink raw vegetable juice three to four times a day. Raw foods are loaded with vitamins, minerals and enzymes, which are beneficial to the body. Green juices are also very cleansing. For additional protein you can add spirulina powder to your juice blend. Spirulina is a sea algae that can be found in most health food stores. If the flavor of green juice is not appealing to you, you can add agave nectar for flavor. In addition, you can also use flax seed oil or cod liver oil to add healthy fats. Some people also like to add a scoop of pulp back into their juice to help with digestion. Pulp is what is taken out of the vegetables to make the juice. The pulp is collected in a container at the back of the juicer.

You can try this juice diet or a modified version. A modified version of the diet would be juicing throughout the day and eating small meals only when you are very hungry. Small healthy meals would be a small slab of salmon with spinach, or chicken with green beans. Be sure to keep your portions small.

Liver and Gallbladder Cleanse

Drink straight lemon juice two times a day to flush the liver and gallbladder. In addition to following a healthy diet, you can add special juices to your routine if you need to flush your body of gallstones. Do not eat for at least one hour before and after doing a liver flush. Take one tablespoon of cod liver oil and drink eight ounces of raw lemon juice made at home. Store bought lemon juice will not work because this juice has been processed and sugars have been added. You need to have a juicer of your own and juice the lemons in your kitchen. It may take a few days before you start to notice any signs of gallstones in the toilet. Continue following this diet until you no longer see stones. You may see stones for a few weeks or even a few months. Every person is different. If you feel any pain or have a gallbladder attack, stop right away and visit your doctor. If your gallbladder is sensitive, you may need to be watched closely.

Watermelon Juice Diet

Drink fresh watermelon juice for one week. If you want to lose weight very quickly then the watermelon juice diet may be right for you. This diet is very simple. Buy several watermelons and cut them up into small slices. Put the watermelon chunks in your juicer and make your own watermelon juice. For added nutritional benefit you can also chew on the seeds. You will get very hungry during this diet but you will also drop weight very quickly. This diet is a temporary way to lose weight. After doing the diet you can start to add healthy foods back in over time.

Warnings

Be sure to talk to your doctor before trying to do a fast or juice cleanse. A juice diet should only be done temporarily rather than long term. Your body still needs protein, fats and fiber. The purpose of a juice diet is to cleanse the body or lose weight. Once you have achieved your goals, gradually introduce other foods back into your diet.

If you have severe gallbladder disease you may need to be monitored closely.
