Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a disease affecting the stomach and intestines in which stomach contents back up into the esophagus. GERD, also referred to as heartburn, acid reflux, or pyrosis, can be very painful and can wear down the esophageal lining over time. Eat Slowly

There are both prescription and over-the-counter medications which, if taken before a meal, can help reduce the likelihood of an acid attack. One way to prevent heartburn is to drink a daily glass of barley grass or wheat grass. These drinks are not only good for your health but should help neutralize the acid in the stomach and keep heartburn from occurring.
