If you suffer from acid reflux it's common to hear about foods you should avoid. But it's also important to know that there are foods which can actually help. The good news is you probably eat many of them already.
Fruits
Apples and bananas are a great choice if you have acid reflux. They are not acidic and they will have a soothing effect on your stomach by helping soak up acid.
Vegetables
Vegetables provide fiber and vitamins that will help heal your digestive system. Peas, carrots, broccoli and potatoes are a good place to start, and seaweed (in any form) is a great addition to your diet.
Meats
Focus on lean meat that is low in fat and high in protein such as skinless chicken breast and turkey; they are gentle on the stomach. Stay away from fast food, processed meats and anything deep fried.
Dairy
Cow's milk cheese may aggravate the stomach, but feta cheese, which comes from sheep's milk, and goat's cheese are more easily digested. Soy cheese is also a good option.
Grains
Grains which are high in fiber are some of the best foods you can eat if you suffer from acid reflux. Oatmeal is effective at neutralizing stomach acid; white and brown rice, whole grain bread and corn bread are also good at taming unruly stomach acid.
Liquid Relief
Making sure to drink enough liquid will help to relieve your acid reflux. Skip the caffeine, alcohol and soda and stick with water or other natural juices low in acidity.
