How to Lose 5 Pounds Fast

Losing 5 pounds fast can help reduce many health risks including high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, heart disease and high blood sugar. It can help jump-start your weight loss plan, boost your metabolism, help you eat healthier and give you some motivation.

    Eliminate table sugar, salt and most fats from your diet. This will force you to eat more fruits and vegetables while staying away from junk foods.

    Avoid most processed foods. That includes hot dogs, snack foods, convenience foods, frozen dinners and boxed meals. However, frozen vegetables, pasteurized milk, and canned fruits in water with no added sugar aren't bad for you even though they're processed.

    Eat six small meals a day instead of three big meals. Eating more in one sitting causes your stomach to stretch, and that makes you feel hungrier more often. Eating smaller meals keeps your stomach small. You'll get full faster, increase your metabolism and lose weight.

    Exercise every day. If you want to lose 5 pounds fast, you need to work for it. Do cardiovascular exercise every other day, and strength training on the other days.

    Drink more water. It helps get rid of toxins and keep our systems working their best. Water also helps get rid of fat. Keep a water bottle with you at all times, and drink as many as 12 cups of water each day.

    Check the nutrition labels on everything. Remember, no added sugar or salts and little fat. That means if you want to grab a cup of coffee it needs to be black: no sugar or cream. You can add a little artificial sweetener and soy milk if you must. Ask your favorite restaurants for a nutrition document that lists all of their foods and nutritional contents. You might be shocked at what you find.

    Eliminate dairy products from your diet. This includes milk, cheese, eggs, yogurt, mayonnaise, cream, butter and ice cream. In place of cow's milk try a soy drink, which has less fat and offers other health benefits.
