Ellagic acid is a polyphenol antioxidant that has anti-mutagen and anti-cancer properties. Ellagic acid comes from plants, which produce ellagic acid to protect themselves from microbiological infection and pests. Ellagic acid is prevalent in many of the fruits and vegetables we eat every day. This substance can be found in strawberries, raspberries, cranberries, pecans and walnuts.

History
